I. Project Background

Dispensing technology uses various types of liquid materials (such as glues, adhesives, sealants, etc.) to achieve functions including bonding, sealing, insulation, and heat conduction in products. It is widely applied in the manufacturing process of various products.

Dispensing operations typically adopt manual or semi-automated equipment to perform precise dispensing on products according to preset coordinate points, ensuring the adhesive material is evenly applied to specific areas. However, the processing accuracy of dispensing is easily affected by the physical characteristics of the actuators, environmental factors, and material properties. Occasional defects such as adhesive overflow, adhesive breakage, and adhesive deviation may occur during the process, affecting the dispensing quality of products.

Traditional methods rely on manual visual inspection and caliper measurement, which involve many uncertain factors and cannot realize real-time online inspection. Therefore, high-precision vision inspection equipment is required to improve the stability and reliability of dispensing quality.

Shenshi Intelligent 3D Camera SR8020 is a high-precision line laser measuring instrument. Its ultra-high resolution enables clear scanning of the top surface features and contours of adhesives, acquiring spatial information such as length, width, and height of objects. It can accurately identify defects in adhesive paths including insufficient adhesive, adhesive breakage, unevenness, and adhesive collapse, with a precision of 0.002 mm. Featuring a high sampling frequency, it achieves high-speed response and real-time online inspection.


II. Inspection Requirements

III. Solution

Shenshi Intelligent SR8020 Laser 3D Contour Measuring Instrument is used to scan the height and width of transparent adhesives, thereby obtaining the top surface features and contour information of adhesive dots.

Measurement Method for Adhesive Height and Width:

SinceVision contour detection can be used. After acquiring point cloud data in the SinceVision software, add the Contour Detection tool, select the adhesive inspection area, and intercept the adhesive contour. Select the highest point of the adhesive contour, establish a datum using the line segments on both sides of the adhesive bottom, and calculate the height from the point to the line as the measured adhesive height.

Offset the datum line upward by a certain distance (e.g., 0.05 mm) to extract intersection points with the adhesive contour, and calculate the length of the line connecting the two intersection points as the adhesive width value.
