Child Rights in Cambodia

Child labour in Cambodia is a serious issue and aggravated further by the pandemic. Prior to the pandemic, it was estimated that 22% of children in Cambodia were out of school and 17% of people were living in poverty. With these numbers increasing, the risk of children dropping out of school early to supplement their families’ income is extremely high. At the same time, many mothers face barriers to breastfeeding at work, do not receive paid maternity leave and protection and have limited access to employer-supported childcare.

Supporting You in Cambodia

The Centre has a network of trained consultants in Cambodia and where needed we also deploy our staff from neighbouring countries to implement projects. To date, The Centre has been involved in child rights and human rights risk and impact assessments in manufacturing and agriculture, child labour remediation, workers need assessments and surveys, implementing the WeCare Family-Friendly Workplaces programme and a World Bank/IFC funded study on employer-based child care in Cambodia. The Centre's full suit of services are available in Cambodia.
