Desmin

Desmin is an intermediate filament protein with a molecular weight of 53kD, which is expressed in smooth muscle cells, cardiac muscle cells, striated muscle cells and a few myoblast cells, and is more abundant in parenchymal organ smooth muscle cells than in vascular smooth muscle cells. It is mainly used for the diagnosis of smooth muscle tumors and skeletal muscle tumors.
